Objective

The "standard path" to becoming an intacs® certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE® first leads through certification as an intacs® certified Process Expert Automotive SPICE®. The focus is on interpreting the Automotive SPICE® processes required to conduct assessments and implement process improvements in system and software development.

In the second step, participants earn the qualification of intacs® certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE®, which provides valuable knowledge and practical guidance for supporting a certified Competent Assessor as a co-assessor in assessments at their own company or at suppliers – or for optimizing processes based on assessment results.

The goal of this combined training (also known as the "Combined Lane") is to complete both training parts in a single pass, reaching certification as an intacs® certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE® faster. The requirements of both certifications remain unchanged: in addition to attending both training parts, participants must complete several homework assignments and present them during the second training part. Active participation throughout the training is the key to success.

Part 1 – Process Expert (intacs® certified Process Expert Automotive SPICE®)

  • Introduction to and overview of the process assessment model

  • Brief introduction to the rating scale and derivation of a capability level rating
  • Process improvement – approach and methods

Part 2 – Provisional Assessor (intacs® certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE®)

  • Deepening knowledge of the process and capability dimensions
  • Rating mechanism and rating rules
  • Assessment process
  • Sampling of work products for rating
  • Interview techniques and note-taking
  • Deriving objective evidence statements
  • Various group activities accompany the training

Target Audience

  • Individuals who want to become certified assessors. Note: Certification as an intacs® certified Provisional Assessor Automotive SPICE® is a prerequisite for the next step toward the intacs® certified Competent Assessor Automotive SPICE®.

Prerequisites

  • Several years of professional experience in the automotive industry (e.g., software/system development, project management, quality management)

Framework & Exam

  • Maximum of 12 participants per training
  • Passing the exam is a prerequisite for participating in the VDA-QMC certification process
